The SCORE Foundation (“Foundation” or “we”) recognizes the importance of protecting the information collected from users in the operation of its web site (“Site”), and take reasonable steps to maintain the security, integrity and privacy of any information in accordance with this Privacy Policy (“Policy”). By submitting your information to the Foundation, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. The Foundation’s Site is not intended for use by children under age 13. The Foundation does not knowingly collect information from children under age 13. If you are less than 18 years of age, then you must first seek the consent of your parent or guardian prior to submitting any personal information.

This Privacy Policy describes how the Foundation collects and uses the personal information you provide to the Foundation. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.

Information that is gathered from Visitors

The Foundation collects information from you in two ways: directly from your input and automatically through the Foundation’s website technologies.  In common with other websites, log files are stored on the web server saving details such as the visitor’s IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit.

The types of personal information that Foundation collects directly from you may include:

  • Contact details, such as your name, email address, postal address and telephone number;
  • IP addresses;
  • Payment information, such as a credit or debit card number;
  • Comments, feedback, posts and other content you submit to a Foundation service; and
  • Communication preferences.

How the Information is used

The Foundation may use your personal information in the following ways:

  • To process your donations to the Foundation;
  • To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us and to provide you with information about products and services that you request from us;
  • To process and respond to inquiries and for the purposes for which you provided the information, such as sending you requested newsletters, publications, and other information we believe may be of interest to you;
  • To enhance the visitor’s experience when using the Site to display personalized content and possibly advertising;
  • To inform you of news of our services or offers by us or our affiliates;
  • For internal business and research purposes and to help enhance, evaluate and develop our websites, products and services and to develop new products and services;

The Foundation does not sell, rent, or lease your information with third parties that use such information for commercial purposes. The Foundation may provide your personal information to authorized third parties required to deliver a particular service. These third parties may not use said information for any other purpose other than to carry out the services they are performing for the Foundation.

We may disclose Personal Information to our affiliates, meaning an entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control including the SCORE Association. Our affiliates may use the Personal Information we share in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of Personal Data Collected

The Foundation may disclose personally identifiable information about you to third-parties as :

  • As the Foundation believes necessary to: (a) comply with legal or regulatory requirements (including but not limited to court and government orders, and civil subpoenas); (b) enforce or apply the Foundation’s Terms of Use and Conditions or other agreements; (c) protect the rights, property, or safety of the Foundation, Site users, or others; or (d) for fraud detection.
  • To third-party service providers who provide services on our behalf, such as payment processors, website hosting, auditing, accounting, legal, and other similar services.
  • If you partake (or we reasonably suspect that you are partaking) in any illegal or potentially illegal activity. We may disclose personal information even without a subpoena, warrant, or other court order, to the extent we feel is necessary to inform and cooperate with law enforcement agencies or other appropriate authorities.
  • If you request us to do so.
  • In aggregated form, i.e., information about multiple users collectively without identifying any individual user, such as the total number of visitors to a particular section in a given week.

Security

While no physical or electronic security system is impenetrable, the Foundation strives to maintain levels of privacy and security consistent with industry standards.  The Foundation has implemented numerous security features to prevent the unauthorized release of or access to personal information. Although the Foundation takes measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosure of a user’s data or personal information, no transmission or electronic storage of information can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

The Foundation’s website is hosted by servers in the United States. Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, any data you voluntarily provide to the Foundation will be transferred to the United States. By submitting such information, you consent to its transfer and storage in the United States and its use in accordance with the purposes for which it was originally collected.

Visitor Options

Opt-Out Right
You may opt-out of having personal information that was collected by the Foundation used by the Foundation for secondary purposes, or used by the Foundation to send promotional correspondence to you by contacting the Foundation via contact us information indicated below.

Access to and Ability to Correct Personal Data
Upon request the Foundation will provide you with a summary of any personal information retained by the Foundation about you. Visitors may modify, correct, change or update personally identifiable information that the Foundation has collected through the Site or may request that their personal record to be removed from the Foundation’s database by contacting the Foundation via postal mail, e-mail, or the telephone number indicated above. If a request to remove a personal record is made, this may not entirely remove all personal information from the Foundation’s database if the Foundation is required to maintain such data for legal requirements or purposes.

Links to Third Party Web Sites

The Site may contain links to other Internet websites. Unless we explicitly state otherwise, we have no control over these third party sites and their privacy practices, and this Privacy Policy applies only to information you supply (or that we collect) in connection with use of the Site. You should review third party privacy policies in connection with visiting other sites.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy and the privacy practices of the Foundation will be subject exclusively to the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia within the United States of America, excluding its conflict of laws provisions, and you submit to personal jurisdiction in Virginia. The parties irrevocably agree that the state and federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, U.S.A. shall have exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute which may arise out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy. THE PARTIES HEREBY WAIVE TRIAL BY JURY.  The Foundation makes no representation that this Privacy Policy and such practices comply with the laws of any other country. Visitors who use the Site and reside outside the United States do so on their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable. If you reside outside of the United States, by using the Site, you consent to the transfer and use of your information outside your country.

Changes to Collection and Dissemination of Information Policy

The Foundation reserves the right, at any time, to add to, change, update, or modify this Privacy Policy, simply by posting such addition, change, update, or modification on the Site. Any such addition, change, update, or modification will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site. You should visit this page from time to time to review the then-current Privacy Policy because it is binding on you. If any change is unacceptable to you, your only recourse is to terminate your use of the Site.
